As part of the #speakthesecret campaign launched by the Postpartum Stress Centre, Karen Klieman teamed up with Molly McIntyre to create these to create comics that depict the silent struggle of postpartum distress. She said she asked McIntyre to illustrate “the words that postpartum women are not speaking.”

Postpartum depression and anxiety affect 1 in 10 new moms and the experience is often isolating and full of guilt. We need to try and reduce the stigma around admitting to negative feelings around being a mother.

Although it is completely normal to feel anxiety during the postnatal period, if you find that your anxiety is interfering with your ability to get through the day then you should talk to your healthcare provider.
